Why no dollar figures yet? Medication prices can change by dose, quantity, pharmacy, location, insurance benefit phase and assistance eligibility. Phase 3 builds the database and verification workflow first so later price publishing is traceable instead of decorative fiction.

What will be stored for each verified price record?

Price evidence

Cash-price range, dosage reference, quantity, pharmacy/source, source date and last-verified date.

Coverage context

Medicare and insurance notes kept separate from cash price so plan-specific out-of-pocket costs are not presented as universal prices.

Calculated fields

Monthly, annual, 5-year and 10-year scenario estimates generated from the verified recurring-cost input and treatment frequency.

Audit trail

Every published figure should preserve the source, verification date, assumptions and editorial notes that produced it.

Calculation rules

Annual scenario = verified monthly recurring cost × 12

5-year scenario = verified monthly recurring cost × 60

10-year scenario = verified monthly recurring cost × 120

These are planning scenarios, not predictions that treatment, dose or pricing will remain unchanged.

Sources and verification

Angirx Review prioritizes current official sources for approval, generic status, Medicare rules and drug information. Pricing and coverage should still be verified for the exact pharmacy, plan, dose, quantity and date.

Source hierarchy: official regulator/benefit source → plan or pharmacy-specific verification → Angirx calculation methodology. No live price is treated as universal.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Heart Drug Cost Database?

It is a structured research resource for organizing medication names, generic status, cost ranges, insurance notes, Medicare considerations, sources and verification dates.

Does the database show the exact price every patient pays?

No. It provides research ranges and planning inputs. Actual out-of-pocket cost depends on dose, quantity, pharmacy, insurance, benefit phase, assistance eligibility and date.

Why store cash price and insurance price separately?

They answer different questions. Cash price is a pharmacy price without using insurance, while out-of-pocket cost reflects the patient's coverage and any discounts or assistance.

How is generic availability stored?

The database should record current regulatory status and, where possible, market availability. An approved generic may not be broadly available immediately, so those concepts are kept distinct.

How are annual medication costs calculated?

Annual figures are derived from a recurring cost and the expected number of refills or administrations per year. Every calculated field should point back to the inputs and assumptions used.

How are five-year costs calculated?

Five-year values are scenario calculations based on current recurring cost and treatment frequency. They are not predictions that prices or treatment will remain unchanged for five years.

How often are database records verified?

Verification frequency should reflect how quickly the field can change. Prices, formularies and savings programs need more frequent review than stable drug-identification fields.

What sources are appropriate for the database?

Primary and authoritative sources are preferred, including regulators, official labeling, manufacturers, Medicare, insurers and pharmacies. Each record should retain source and date information.

How does the database handle Medicare coverage?

It records plan-dependent considerations rather than claiming one universal Medicare price. Users still need to verify their own Part D or Medicare Advantage plan.

How are discounts and manufacturer assistance recorded?

They should be separate fields with eligibility and expiration notes so temporary savings are not mistaken for the regular price.

Can the database be used to recommend a cheaper substitute?

No. It can compare financial variables, but it cannot establish clinical equivalence or suitability. Medication changes belong with the prescribing clinician.

Why is a structured database useful for AI answers?

Consistent entity names, dates, units, source fields and calculations make facts easier to retrieve without mixing incompatible prices. That reduces ambiguity when search engines or LLMs summarize cost information.

No fabricated pricing

This page intentionally contains no invented drug-price figures.
